Don’t Worry Darling is a 2022 film directed by Olivia Wilde and starring Harry Styles, Florence Pugh, Chris Pine, Gemma Chan, and Nick Kroll. This Thriller/Mystery follows the plot of a happy-looking community, taking place in a desert. Looking to be set in the 1950s, there are 4 main couples, all very traditional norms, such as a husband goes to work, while the wife stays home and cooks/cleans all day. Men go to “work” and keep it very closed off from their wolves. No one is suspicious of this until the main character, Alice, digs deeper into the mystery of her husband, Jack.
I would say this is a very good movie; it doesn’t move too slow or too fast. The beginning provides a lot of context as to what the setting is, and almost gives a homey feel to the audience. Many viewers seem to fall in love with the main couple, Alice and Jack, played by Florence Pugh and Harry Styles. However, once the film starts to pick up, the plot can be lost, and confusing to the audience. Nevertheless, this is what the director was trying to achieve, but some say the idea of trying to confuse the audience didn’t work out as well.
If you love romantic thrillers and mysteries, this movie is for you! It really leaves the audience with a heavy feeling and questions, but in a good way. This movie is also easy to watch over and over again. I never get bored of watching this, and find something interesting each time.
