Without a doubt, the holiday season has begun in Haddonfield. The Grinch on the Shelf tradition has begun, Mr. Nelson is playing Christmas music to kick off AP Lit, and everyone’s talking about their many upcoming Secret Santas. To join in celebrating the festivities, I’d like to recommend my personal favorite Christmas movie.
While it is the third installment in the franchise, Terrifier 3 is an excellent feel-good family-friendly Christmas movie. Picking up not long after the events of Terrifier 2, Art the Clown puts himself back together. After a five year timeskip, we find ourselves deep in the holiday season: houses are decorated, kids are taking pictures with the mall Santa, etc. The protagonist of the second movie, Sienna, has returned home with her aunt and uncle after a long stay in a psychiatric facility. Throughout the movie, she struggles to cope with PTSD and survivors guilt while Art tries to hack his way back into her life.
Terrifier 3, dare I say, the romantic comedy of our generation, is a brilliant film. With its vibrant and festive color palette, you can really feel the holiday spirit and you can really feel the bile rising in your stomach. Only three movies have made me gag and this is one of them! If you’re a fan of creative and ingenuitive uses of liquid nitrogen, this is the perfect movie for you. Happy holidays and happy watching!
