Directed by The Duffer Brothers, Stranger Things took to fame after its release in July of 2016. Several actors flourished in their careers after the TV show turned into a global sensation, including Millie Bobby Brown, Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, and many others. Books, comic series, video games, a live stage play, and extensive merchandise all followed when the show rose to fame. Overall, Stranger Things was and is a major success.
Consisting of soon to be five seasons, Stranger Things does a great job at stretching out the plot, while keeping the audience hooked the whole time. While it does indeed get hard to watch sometimes (cliche), it’s truly an amazing show with mountains of emotion built up. By the end, you feel as though you relate to the character on another level. However, one episode that stuck out, unlike most, was chapter 7: The Lost Sister. I felt this didn’t add to the plot at all, and they could’ve done a different backstory. Not even halfway through the episode, it felt as though I was being forced to watch it. The plot itself was unnecessary, and they could’ve substituted a better storyline. On the other hand, the rest of the show heavily outweighs this episode, and one just has to watch it for the sake of the plot.
In the end, this show is necessary for all audiences to watch at least once in their lifetime. While there are indeed many horror TV shows, Stranger Things is one of a kind, and there is nothing quite like it. Starting from a D&D game and ending in a life-risking situation, this show keeps you hooked from beginning to end. Additionally, make sure to finish it before season 5 comes out on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s!
