On Friday, May 29th, Haddonfield Memorial High School celebrated its annual Wellness Day. This event allows students to go on to the field during the day to celebrate the events through various activities, including spikeball, volleyball, soccer, and many other activities. Clubs also set up stands with smaller activities, and sales to raise club funds.
To begin the day, a Color Run and Color Walk were available for students to participate in, which allowed them to walk a mile or run three miles during periods 1 and 2. This year had one of the largest amounts of students participating, with over 300 students signed up for it. During this event, students were thrown with color by non-participating students, dying clothes with multiple colors. The run and walk concluded at the end of second period, allowing students to return to class before third period started.
Many other major events happened at this year’s Wellness day, allowing students to participate in competitive tournaments. Starting before Wellness day, Roshambo took place through the school week. This game began with giving all students beaded necklaces, and throughout the week, the students would play Rock, Paper, Scissor to earn each other’s beads. Those with 30 beaded necklaces by Wellness Day would compete in the finals, which occurred during Friday. Other competitions that took place on Wellness Day were volleyball matches between certain classes, a spikeball tournament, and soccer matches between student-made teams. Besides competitions, smaller events took place during the school day. These events included student bands performing various songs, a dunk tank for students to dunk teachers in a large bucket of water, a Senior Sign Off for the class of 2026, and a few other smaller activities.
Overall, this year was filled with plenty of fun, and allowed students to take a break from school for a day before finals. Next Friday, on June 5th, the next school event will be Arts in the Courtyard, which will be similar to Wellness Day but held in the A-Courtyard. This event will include various art-related activities presented by clubs, allowing students to support the clubs of this school through participation and charitable purchasing.
