As the spring season approaches at HMHS, here is a winter sports preview. HMHS is ranked #7 for The Best High Schools for Athletes in New Jersey, According to a 2026 Ranking (Niche Rankings).
LACROSSE: The girls’ lacrosse team is excited for a dominating upcoming season, returning with many varsity starters after having an impressive 18-4 record. The key players include many continuing their lacrosse careers in college, including Brooke Shultz (Penn State), Riley Austin (Harvard), Sofia Conroy (Roanoke College), Mackenzie Keleher (Lenoir Ryhne), Lauren Hamblin (Washington & Lee), and Ava Carpenter (Quinnipiac). Riley Austin, the team’s leading goal scorer with 78 goals, bringing her to a career total of 147 goals. The team is focused In the 25-26 season, where they look to make it back to the South Jersey group 1 championship. The boys lacrosse team finished last season with a 7-11 record. This season, the team boasts two players committed to Franklin & Marshall: Senior Mac Clancey, who led the team with 64 points in the 24-25 season, and Griffin Breen, another key asset. Leading the team’s faceoffs will be a Junior, Nate Yi, who took 223 faceoffs last season with a 44% win rate.
SPRING TRACK: The Track and Field team is gearing up for an exciting season focused on growth and support. Edie Green, who is committed to Ursinus College for Track and Field, shared her excitement: “I’m so excited to see our track team continue to grow and challenge each other through hard workouts and meets! I’m also so excited to not only meet my personal best and goals but see others improve and continue to be the supporting and uplifting team that we are!” Teammate Natalie Lacroce is also looking forward to events where team encouragement is key. She specifically mentioned, “I’m looking forward to the Baker invitational and the distance night for track.”
BASEBALL: Coming off a spectacular season where they clinched the South Jersey Group II Championship, the HMHS Baseball team looks to repeat their success in the Spring. They have a strong count of returning athletes that helped contribute to last year’s victory, including college commits James Rowe (Hobart College), Dan Keenan (University of Pennsylvania), Timmy Bowman (Widener College), and Will Solak (Gettysburg). They will look forward to this season and try to win the championship again.
SOFTBALL: Softball is getting ready for this upcoming season, hoping to improve from last year, going 6-9. Sophomore Camryn Allegretto, shares what she’s looking forward to: “I’m looking forward to expanding our team as a whole!” She hopes to get more players on the team and to develop the overall strength . A strong way to do this is by connecting with the players as “a whole”. Their head pitcher this season will be Isabel Nolte, pitching 10.2 innings last season, only allowing 10 runs.
GOLF: The Haddonfield Golf program, having a strong history including three NJ State Group II championships under Head Coach David Scorsolini, is seeing increased participation this year. Both the boys’ and girls’ teams, who achieved a combined 13-6 record last season, begin at Tavistock Country Club. Sophomore Francesca O’Neil shared her enthusiasm for the upcoming season, stating, “Something I am looking forward to for the upcoming golf season is becoming closer with my teammates and meeting new people! I love meeting players from all different schools, backgrounds, and interests during matches and making new friends and connections.”
