There have been many new teachers coming in this year. Senor Donnelly is one of many who will be interviewed today. We will learn all about him and his commitment to Haddonfield High School. Micheal Donelly teaches courses Spanish I, II and III with 5 classes in total.
Q. What are some reasons you wanted to teach High School?
A. Definitely had High School teachers help find my way to High School. I wanted to help just like they did once for me.
Q. Why did you switch to Haddonfield?
A. Sense of community is amazing. Everyone is on the same team and no teacher is competing to be the best. Everyone wants everyone to be successful.
Q. Where did you want to start Spanish from?
A. Middle school is where I first found interest then in High School I knew I would major in it. I had amazing Spanish teachers growing up in school. My mother also worked at a pizzaria where many people spoke Spanish and my step dad spoke Spanish. I knew in High School that it was my passion.
Q. Any fun class stories?
A. A student this year came in with a buzzcut and everyone called them eleven from stranger things but since they were in Spanish class, they called them once.
Q. What are your goals for this year?
A. Being as available as possible and to be a shapeshifter. I am willing to be open to change.
Q. How many classes do you teach?
A. 5 classes. 2 Spanish I, 2 Spanish II, 1 Spanish III.
Q. Opinions on other kids and teachers?
A. Wonderful. I’ve never had a bad interaction with anyone. Everyone has been welcoming and no one is selfish by trying to be a better teacher, especially the language deportment.
Q. Things you’re looking forward to this year?
A. Arts in the courtyard and performing. I am going to maybe make my kids perform but they don’t know that yet. Have more experience with partnering with the parents and getting on the same page with them.
Everyone is so excited for this new experience with Senor Donnelly and what we will learn this year. We are happy to have him in our district and can not wait to see what he will bring us.
