Each year, the entire town of Haddonfield comes together to celebrate one of the biggest holidays of the year. Halloween has always been a big hit in this small town, and the parades, costumes, and decorations never disappoint. The famous movie “Halloween” is also based on the South Jersey town, even though it was filmed in Illinois. This started the excitement for the holiday and gave the town something special to look forward to. Haddonfield carries on traditions such as haunted walking tours and dramatic decorations on Washington Avenue. Washington Avenue in Haddonfield, New Jersey, is famous for its Halloween traditions. Every year, the residents of Washington Ave go all out, coming up and creating elaborate Halloween decorations. Making it a popular Trick-Or-Treating destination for many people. Each year, the amazing decorations get better and better. Houses are covered with many decorations from giant spiders and ghosts to pop-culture-themed setups. Washington is also very known for giving out high-quality candy, like full size candy bars. Halloween on Washington Ave has gained so much popularity that more traditions have been created. One being “Decorations Night”, where many people gather together and walk down Washington and can enjoy all the decorations. Another tradition being the Block Party. Several years ago, the police began closing off Washington on Halloween night, this drew massive crowds of people. For example, last Halloween, there was an estimate of 5,000 people. Due to the popularity and crowds, this year officials made the decision of no longer closing off the street, in hopes to spread Trick-Or-Treaters out to other neighborhoods for a safer and manageable environment. Despite not closing down Washington Avenue this year, it will still be a great place to Trick-Or-Treat and have a wonderful time during Halloween!
