On October 18th, the Girls Tennis team captured their 21st consecutive sectional title in a 5-0 shutout win against Cumberland. This was also the program’s 42nd title which officially punched their ticket to the NJSIAA state tournament.

With the NJSIAA SJ Group 2 Title under their belts, the girls headed up to Mercer County Park to compete in the State Group tournament which took place on October 20th.

A crisp, windy and sunny autumn morning, the 7 girls competed against one of the best teams in the state for the group 2 semifinal, Holmdel High School.

Although the girls lost 5-0 to Holmdel, they played very hard and represented HMHS Tennis with pride.

At first singles, senior Samantha Sirover, followed by senior Lucinda Andrewes at second singles, then sophomore Evie York for third singles. For first doubles was sophomore Eliza Gordon and freshman Mia Swiecicki, followed by second doubles senior Tina Tian and junior Emily Turnage.

Although not victorious coming home, the Girls Tennis team had yet another impressive season with an 18-5 record. The chance to play at the state level was a great experience to end an overall victorious season.
