HMHS Model UN to Host Regional Conference

Jessica Goode, Staff Writer

There are many clubs in high school that are for people of different interests. In HMHS there are many clubs that range from science to volunteer work. A very popular club that is offered at HMHS is Model UN.

What is Model UN? As HMHS co-adviser Mr. Boogaard puts it, “It is a simulation where students are assigned a certain country and topic. The students debate about the topic and are supposed to come to an agreement.” On March 28, Model UN (which is short for Model United Nations), is hosting a conference at HMHS. Every year they host this conference and this is the 18th year that they have hosted it. At least 15 other schools will come with about 200 other students. Over the Model UN season they have had five different conferences. This particular one is the last of the year. Mr. Boogaard is very excited for this conference.  He states, “For the seniors this is the final contribution for Model UN but for everyone else it is very rewarding.” This will be a very big conference so tune in next time to see the results!
