The HMHS drama club is back in session, starting with the annual fall play! This year, Haddonfield thespians will be performing the theatrical version of Roald Dahl’s classic children’s book, Fantastic Mr. Fox. Featuring a cast of cunning and creative animals alongside a trio of evil farmers, this kid-friendly adventure explores themes of family and greed with a humorous and exciting backdrop.
The titular role will be upheld by HMHS senior, Katie Crawford, who is “absolutely thrilled” for the show’s run. “I always think it’s special when the drama club does a show that’s made from a children’s story,” Crawford remarked in a recent interview, “Our audiences become primarily families, and kids are always super fun to perform for because they’re so expressive.” According to Crawford, Fantastic Mr. Fox is an engaging show for audiences of all ages, involving interactive elements where the audience is brought into the story.
Evelyn Bisirri, a senior portraying one of Mr. Fox’s children, commented, “The cast works so well together, so we were able to have a lot of fun while putting the show together.” This statement encompasses the mindset of the dedicated cast and crew involved in Fantastic Mr. Fox, who have been collaborating on the project since the first week of school.
Fantastic Mr. Fox premieres on October 18th at 7pm, with two following shows on the 19th (also at 7), and the 20th at 2pm. Tickets can be purchased at the door or online via https://hmhs.booktix.com/dept/main/e/Fox.
